Edward Davis – Mariposa Gazette


  

 

Edward Everett Davis, 83, passed away peacefully in his home on the ranch he loved in Midpines on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, with his wife by his side.

He was born on July 12, 1939, in Lompoc, San Bernadino County, California. Later, the family moved to Livermore, Calif.

He joined the Boy Scouts and earned the Eagle Scout award. Much later he would be on the Boy Scout Council in Reno, Nev.

Ed attended Mariposa High School, graduating in 1957. That June, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on aircraft carriers (one of which was the USS Independence). He was honorably discharged in June of 1960.

Ed studied business at San Francisco State. With the electronics knowledge. Ed had gained while in the service, he was able to put it to use in the San Francisco Bay Area working for Scott Company and Varian & Assoc.

In the late 70s, he moved from his home in Woodside to Sparks, Nev. Ed owned and operated Air Con Service, Inc., a commercial and industrial HVAC service company until he sold the company and retired in 2006.

  

 

Ed enjoyed target shooting both rifles and shotguns as well as playing pool and was quite good at it. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed gardening and travel.

Another large part of Ed’s life was his love of vintage cars, street rods, etc. There are several still in his garage.

A large part of his life was his membership in the Masonic Order.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Roy Davis, Jr. and Katherine Kanyuk; his half-brother, William (Billie) Walter Nolan, Jr; as well as his stepmother, Carol Pinney Davis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Deborah Jean Davis; his brother, Herbert Roy Davis, III; his sister in-law, Barbara (Bobbie) Davis; his daughter, Debra Lynne Hanson (David); three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Ed will be held early spring in Mariposa.
